New Medicated Contact Lens Developed

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

A researcher from Auburn University in Alabama has developed a contact lens designed to release medication into the eye at a constant rate.

It has been shown that the vast majority of medicine meant to help an eye are flushed out, kept out, drained out, or spilled out before they have a chance to do their job. To prevent this and to help with treating eye infections, the Auburn researcher has developed a special medicated contact lens.

This is not a completely new idea. Contact lenses have been soaked in solutions to help the eyes for a number of years. Unfortunately, those lenses have typically failed because the lens releases the medicine too quickly. The new lens has a special molecular structure that mimics receptor cells for the medicine. This allows the lens to release the medicine effectively into the eye.

The researcher has already founded a company to explore the commercial aspects of the lens. They are hard at work developing an anti-fungal contact lens for horses.

If your vision has been impaired due to an eye infection that was due to faulty contact lens solution, contact the contact lens solution lawyers of Williams Kherkher at 1-866-950-9000 to discuss your case and to determine your legal options.
