The FDA is now urging people to clean their contact lenses and looking into stronger testing requirements for new solutions before they go on the market.
Last week, a panel of experts met to discuss precautions that could be taken by contact lens wearers to minimize their chances of infection. The precautions include not re-using solution, cleaning the lenses, not sleeping with lenses in, and removing the lenses before going swimming or using a hot tub.
The experts are also suggesting the FDA develop more stringent rules and standards for new contact lens solutions. This meeting took place nearly two years after a recall was originally issued.
If you were negatively impacted by an infection due to the use of inadequate lens solutions, contact the contact solution lawyers of Williams Kherkher at 1-866-950-9000 to discuss your case and to determine your legal options.
