Three women have filed a lawsuit against Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. (AMO) in California after they suffered vision loss and major eye damage after using Complete MoisturePlus. The women have all contracted Acanthamoeba keratitis, an infection in the eyes that can lead to blindness.
One of the three women claim to have suffered corneal scarring due to Acanthamoeba keratitis and may now need a cornea transplant to repair the damage caused by the infection. Her doctor states that even with corrective lenses, the woman will never regain her normal vision.
The development of Acanthamoeba Keratitis has been linked to Complete Moisture since 2004, however, AMO did not fully recall the product until May 2007.
